It seems to me that there’s been a resurgence of interest in and use of psychedelic drugs in the West over the last decade or so, which has been matched by a renewed interest in the fields of neurology and psychiatry – given what was learned about these drugs back in the 60s, and their power to heal people physically, emotionally and spiritually, such a revival can only be a good thing, as long as these powerful drugs are treated with respect.

While it’s not surprising to hear about the hippies of the 1970s experimenting with psychedelic drugs, or hallucinogens, a new study shows that an estimated 32 million people in the U.S. have used LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), “magic mushrooms” (psilocybin), or mescaline (peyote and other cacti) at some point in their lives, many in the recent past.

Should we be concerned about levels of flouride in our water supply, or is there nothing to worry about?

A recently-published Harvard University meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has concluded that children who live in areas with highly fluoridated water have “significantly lower” IQ scores than those who live in low fluoride areas.

In a 32-page report that can be downloaded free of charge from Environmental Health Perspectives, the researchers said:

The government has announced plans to hand over the running of the whole of England and Wales to private security firm G4S in a move which ministers say will bring significant improvements to their workload and personal bank balances.

The international company – which has already been contracted to run everything from rape referral centres to children’s homes in the UK – will take over the entire management of the two countries from government ministers on a contract which is expected to run for 30 years.

The company announced that trained G4S workers working on an hourly rate of £6.50 an hour will help man the two countries, assisting with making decisions about foreign policy, running the countries’ health and education services as well as providing advice on how members of the public can access optional services such as provision of water, gas, electricity and air for an…

blairyThe final nail in Palestine’s coffin has been hammered in by US Secretary of State John Kerry: he has brought in Tony Blair to (and I quote) “devise economic plans to revitalise the Palestinian economy”. No doubt the next new helper in Father Kerry’s Grotto will be John Birt, charged with revitalising Palestinian television and Parliamentary procedures. Or how about Gordon Brown to advise on gold sales, Tessa Jowells on how to introduce alcohol into the mix, and Jeremy Hunt as a consultant proctologist advising on how to take it up the arse from Israel? In for a penny, in for a Pound – that’s what I say.
